Awesome Authors Keep on Writing

We have been hard at work here at Awesome Authors writing some pretty cool stuff. We have wrote about birthday wishes and guest rules as well as attempting poems. We will continue to write our hearts out and have some stuff to share in the near future!

January 18-22

This week we will continue to work on poems as well as create Top Ten lists with our favorite foods and some other ideas that the children will come up with.

January 11-15

This week we continued to work on poems. We worked on rhyming words and poems about ourselves.

Liberty 10/23/09

This week we wrote stories about our pets, real or imaginary. We got some pretty cool stories. We will hopefully have enough stories to put out our newspaper very soon.

West Chester 10/21/09

This week we toook our wishes that we made and voted on which ones we all would like to have. We then wrote a story together using the top three wishes. Those of us that could write all by themselves also wrote their own stories.

Liberty 10/16/09

This week we did a project with genies and wishes. We were given a piece of paper and asked to write down three wishes on it. We then took those three wishes and either wrote a story with all three or three individual stories.

West Chester 10/14/09

This week we did a project about wishes and genies. We each came up with three wishes and then talked about them. Next week we are going to take all of our wishes and create stories with them.

Liberty 10/9/09

We did a project with our names this week. We wrote our names vertical on a piece of paper and came up with words that described us that began with each letter of our name. We worked together, inlisting the help of everyone, to come up with ideas. This went really well and they had a lot of fun!

We also worked on writing some more stories, Halloween and otherwise, for our paper.

West Chester 10/07/09

We did a project with our names this week. We wrote our names vertical on a piece of paper and came up with words that described us for every letter of our name. We got some really great words! They then were able to decorate their paper.

I had one child tell me that he wished his name had an "R" in it somewhere because if it did he would have put down that he was respectful or responsible. How cute!

Liberty

This week at Liberty we wrote scary Halloween stories. We got some really great stories and a few pictures to go with them. We did some work on our newspaper and hope to have it out within the next week or so.



We meet Fridays from 4:30 to 5:30!

West Chester

We continue to work on our newspaper. We have some really good stories, even if they are short. The kindergardeners have drawn some pretty awesome pictures and told the stories that go with the pictures. We will hopefully have the newspaper out within the next week to share with the whole Center.

Liberty Week 1

We came up with a name for our newspaper in our first meeting. The Liberty newspaper is going to be called, The Goose Moose! We wrote our first story together, taking turns at creating it. We have some really good stories being written and some mini stories that we completed. Puppies seemed to be the theme of a lot of the stories that we written or started this week. We had a GREAT first day of the Awesome Authors club at Liberty!

West Chester Week 1

We came up with a name for our newspaper in our first meeting. The West Chester newspaper is going to be called, The Newspaper of the World of Kids R Kids! We wrote our first story together, taking turns at creating it. We have some really good stories being written and some mini stories that we completed. Awesome Authors!

Awesome Authors is an after school club at Kids R Kids. In this club we will be exploring the ways of writing. We will be writing poems, sonnets, short stories, newspaper articles, essays, longer stories, profiles, plays, and conducting interviews. When it comes to writing, anything goes! Anything that the children want to write, we will explore. We will be taking all of the things that we write and learn and putting them into a newspaper that we will put out once a month. Those children that can't write yet or are having trouble with the writing will draw a picture and then dictate to me the story that the picture is conveying.
